Mitigate the Toughest Odors and Stains with SporActiv® CLEAR

When we formulate new industrial, institutional, and consumer (IIC) cleaning ingredients at MDG, your success is always top of mind. Our SporActiv® line includes scientifically proven products that can help you solve your customers’ challenges and reach your unique business objectives.

We’re excited to introduce our newest IIC ingredient: SporActiv® CLEAR! Our most concentrated 20X formulation, CLEAR was designed with newly discovered Bacillus strains that can digest the widest variety of odor and waste materials. Learn why CLEAR stands above other market-leading ingredients as a superior microbial cleaner and discover how you can use it to enhance your product formulations.

What does SporActiv® CLEAR do?

CLEAR has three major functions for IIC cleaning:

Waste/Stain Removal

With SporActiv® CLEAR, your product can achieve a deeper clean against stains from pet accidents or food spills. The Bacillus in CLEAR penetrate deep into porous surfaces like carpet, tile, and grout, consuming any organic material left behind from a first wipedown. Plus, since Bacillus are living organisms that thrive and grow in environments rich with these waste/stain components, they continue to work hours and even days after the initial product application.

FOG Digestion

In places like drains and grease traps, fats, oils, and grease (FOG) can build up over time, causing backups that cost your customers time and money. FOG can also persist on surfaces, leaving behind a greasy film. The Bacillus strains in CLEAR were specifically chosen to help mitigate this buildup by digesting it, thereby removing the FOG from the system. This allows drains and grease traps to continue running smoothly and helps surfaces stay clean and residue-free.

Odor Control

Just like the elements that make up stains and waste, odor-causing compounds can linger after a surface-level clean, leaving persistent foul smells behind. SporActiv® CLEAR’s Bacillus view these compounds as food, digesting and removing them from the application site. The strains in CLEAR have been scientifically selected to break down the broadest range of odorous compounds compared to other ingredients on the market, making it a powerful choice for your products.

Demonstrating SporActiv® CLEAR’s Effectiveness

In general, Bacillus bacteria are  effective for a variety of cleaning applications as they can break down a multitude of substrates that make up odors, waste, and stains. In fact, to develop our existing SporActiv® product line, MDG’s microbiologists have already extensively screened Bacillus strains for their ability to digest these unwanted organic materials. However, when it comes to reducing odors, certain compounds require highly specialized Bacillus strains to mitigate them, and this is the problem we set out to solve by developing SporActiv® CLEAR.

Our laboratory testing found that current market-leading products were not able to digest the difficult-to-degrade odor compounds we wanted to target. After identifying this gap in the market, we set to work developing CLEAR, choosing environmental testing samples from locations with severe odors to give us the best chance of finding strains that have adapted to consume those compounds. After screening hundreds of strains, we found only two that cover all the gaps we targeted. These strains are present in SporActiv® CLEAR.

To show that CLEAR is up to the challenge, Figure 1 (below) displays a selection of tough-to-degrade odor-causing compounds we’ve tested CLEAR against compared to other ingredients on the market. These results demonstrate that CLEAR is able to digest many difficult-to-remove odorous substances that most market-leading microbial ingredients cannot.
