Biological Treatment Products

MDG is proud to offer high-quality liquid and powder bioaugmentation products designed to combat a variety of common wastewater challenges, such as

  • Sludge
  • Water quality (COD, BOD, TSS, nitrogen)
  • Fats, oils, and grease (FOG)
  • Odor
  • Hydrogen sulfide (H2S)

To do that, we scientifically select strains of Bacillus bacteria for increased enzyme activity and digestion of complex components and combine them with an optimized proprietary blend of micronutrients and biostimulants for improved growth. These two components work together to enhance the existing microbial population and improve digestion of organic material.

Biotifx® Strains

Our team of research microbiologists constantly seeks to isolate and identify novel strains that perform well in a wide range of environments. We optimize our products by blending these high-performing strains into our stable, concentrated products.

Each strain in the Biotifx® product line has been chosen specifically for their enhanced ability to degrade an extensive range of organic substrates and help increase activity of native microbial communities in wastewater applications.

Product Solutions

Odor

Facility worker discomfort, community complaints, and potential fines are common challenges associated with odors. By helping to prevent the formation of biological acids and other odor-causing substances, our Biotifx® products reduce the presence of these malodorous compounds and the issues that come with them.

Sludge

Sludge handling and disposal is often one of the highest operational costs faced by wastewater treatment facilities. Our Biotifx® products reduce these costs by decreasing sludge volume through increasing organic sludge digestion while also improving settling and dewatering. This saves multiple layers of expense (dewatering chemistry, electricity, and labor, to name a few) and prevents hauling and landfill costs.

Hydrogen Sulfide

The production of hydrogen sulfide can lead to community complaints, operator safety risks, and corrosion or extensive damage to a facility’s infrastructure as well as its mechanical and electrical equipment. The Bacillus in our Biotifx® outperforms the sulfur-reducing bacteria (SRBs) present in the environment, which are bacteria responsible for the formation of H2S. This leads to lower risks for operators and community members as well as reducing the need for costly conventional treatment.

Fat, Oil, and Grease (FOG)

The accumulation of FOG can cause:

  • System backups
  • Septicity
  • Equipment failure
  • Foaming
  • Poor settling
  • Floating solids

Traditional processes for removing FOG are costly, laborious, and reactive. Our Biotifx® products are designed with Bacillus strains that use FOG as a food source, digesting it and thereby removing it from the treatment system. This digestion proactively reduces FOG accumulation and also helps facilities save on labor- and removal-related costs, while maintaining wastewater treatment efficiency and effectiveness.

Industries

Our products are designed to work in a variety of wastewater systems, including:

  • Municipal
  • Pulp and paper
  • Food and beverage
  • Meat and dairy
  • Grease interceptors
  • Rendering
  • Petrochemical
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Chemical blending
  • Landfill
  • Lakes and ponds

Application-Specific Programs

It’s the combination of our Biotifx® Products and Programs that bring our partners success. Each program is centered around solving top challenges within the wastewater industry.
