Biological Treatment Products
MDG is proud to offer high-quality liquid, powder, and solid bioaugmentation products designed to mitigate a variety of common wastewater challenges, such as:
- Sludge
- Fats, oils, and grease (FOG)
- Odors
- Hydrogen sulfide (H2S)
To do that, we scientifically select strains of Bacillus bacteria for increased enzyme activity and digestion of complex components. Then, we combine them with an optimized proprietary blend of micronutrients and biostimulants for improved growth. These two components work together to enhance the existing microbial population and improve digestion of organic material.
Biotifx® Strains
Our microbiologists constantly seek to isolate and identify novel strains that perform well in a wide range of environments. We optimize our offerings by blending these high-performing strains into our stable, concentrated products.
Each Bacillus strain in the Biotifx® product line has been chosen specifically for its enhanced ability to degrade an extensive range of organic substrates and help increase activity of native microbial communities in wastewater applications.
Product Solutions
Odor
Facility worker discomfort, community complaints, and potential fines are common challenges associated with odors. By helping to prevent the formation of biological acids and other odor-causing substances, our Biotifx® products reduce the presence of these malodorous compounds and the issues that come with them.
Sludge
Sludge handling and disposal is often one of the highest operational costs faced by wastewater treatment facilities. Our Biotifx® products mitigate this problem by increasing organic sludge digestion and improving settling and dewatering, which leads to an overall decrease in sludge volume. This saves multiple layers of expense—namely dewatering chemistry, electricity, labor, and landfill costs—helping facilities see ROI faster.
Hydrogen Sulfide
The production of H2S can lead to community complaints, operator safety risks, and corrosion or extensive damage to a facility’s infrastructure/equipment. The Bacillus in Biotifx® outperforms the bacteria responsible for the formation of H2S, leading to lower risks for operators/community members and reduced reliance on costly conventional treatment.
Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG)
The accumulation of FOG can cause:
- System backups
- Septicity
- Equipment failure
- Foaming
- Poor settling
- Floating solids
Traditional processes for removing FOG are costly, laborious, and reactive. Biotifx® products are designed with Bacillus strains that use FOG as a food source, digesting and removing it from the system. This consumption proactively reduces FOG accumulation and helps facilities save on labor- and removal-related costs while maintaining efficient, effective wastewater treatment.
